The North Queensland Annual City v Country tournament was played out in Atherton, with Mount Isa sending three sides of five 8-Ball players who were looking to defend their title from 2015.

Last year saw Mount Isa host the tournament and wind up winning the event on the final frame of the day.  This year however, the Mount Isa side was a little off the pace, and Townsville 8-Ball took the trophy for the first time in eight years.

The competition started well for Mount Isa, with all three grades taking their first match against Atherton.  B-Grade then took two of the next three to be close to the lead, but A-Grade and Ladies started to fall behind.

In the end, Townsville 8-Ball won with all three of their teams going undefeated which has never been done before.  Cairns 8-Ball came second and Innisfail had just pipped Mount Isa for third by one match.

Individually, Mount Isa did very well and nobody really let the side down.

Shaye Graham came second in the ladies division to former Australian player and current Ruswin employee Temple Larkins from Townsville, with a record of 19 wins from 25 frames.

In the A-Grade Men, Adam Langtree was tied-third overall with a very good 17-25 record.

AJ Saunders was Mount Isa’s best in B-Grade coming tied-7th.

Next year’s City v Country is set in Townsville in February 2017, with the home side looking to repeat as champions.
